Facebook just coughed up this “eight years ago today” painting of Dougan. I don’t at all recall painting it. It certainly was never archived on the website or the portfolio. I expect I thought (rightly) that it was just a touch TOO Andrew Wyeth-y. At that time, I was becoming heartily tired of inevitably being called “The Southern Andrew Wyeth” or “The New Edward Gorey”. Moreover, Dougan was (obviously) still alive, with years of posing ahead of him. I have no idea where it went. I probably threw or gave it away. Such are the perils of being too prolific………..
