I grow more than a bit tired of explaining to folks that, just because I’ve used an actual person in a painting, that doesn’t mean that the picture is ABOUT the person (or me, for that matter).

That said?  Herve suited my purposes for this painting.  Frances Mayes took her first look and said “Oh….you’ve made him look like a poet”.

I did…on purpose.  That said?….the title’s taken from a song by Sting; I love the lyric “What would mean to say/I loved you in my fashion?”
