“First Losses” (pastel,pencil, gold inks, and watercolor. 2017). This was done two years ago (I can’t recall if I put it up for sale back then, to be honest)….but re-done today. For various reasons (mostly autobiographical), it wasn’t one of those decorative pictures I can do as a quick, technical-exercise toss-off. I pulled it back out this morning ( I knew exactly where I’d kept it in my files) after reading a lot of the comments on the very-fine novelist Patrick Gale’s facebook page…..all of which were in response to the recent BBC production of his very moving novel “The Man in The Orange Shirt”. I do hope the movie does a lot of good,as it was obviously meant to do. Not entirely by the way…Patrick is on facebook….just “friend” him….he’s a nice guy and a great writer…
