“Blue Skies” (portrait of timothy andrae and sons)
pencil, pastel, & watercolor, 2023
As some canny folks have noticed, I haven’t painted/drawn anything new or put anything up-for-sale in almost a year. Quite frankly?….I haven’t, since the two strokes (both “small”, I’m told), wanted to find out if I could do so…….and then the blastomycosis/Affib (sp?) shit began.
Having ordered all new pencil and pastels, I began again this past week. Fortunately, I have a subject at hand…….the family of a sewanee alumnus (too young for me to have ever met him at school) who, understanding that I was moving, sick, etcetera, simply paid in advance for five portraits and has been very patient (for almost a YEAR) while I got my ship righted.
So, many thanks to Tim Andrae and his wife. I don’t have a spouse anymore, and I never had children; these paintings of the Andrae family make me unexpectedly happy. They do seem quite lovely and content, don’t they? I particularly like this jolly painting/drawing of Tim and his boys.
