It’s sentimental of me to have painted/mostly-drawn this over the past week…..but I think that we’re all allowed our fair share of sentimentality in this season (both generally and in terms of the current news).
For those who wonder?…..This is, actually, not at all a remote cottage in the Northern Felds. It’s “The Gardener’s Cottage”…on the Chatsworth estate in Derbyshire. It’s the only remnant of the entire village which one of the 19th century Dukes of Devonshire had moved (a couple of miles away) because it interfered with his view of the countryside (thereby answering the riddle “How does a young duke start acting like an Old Queen?”).
