“A Separate Peace”

Pencil, Pastel, and Watercolor

My smart and fiercely loyal friend, Carolyn Callahan, knows that I rarely do/finish a painting without hitting “replay” on a particular song as many times as it takes. In this particular case, I finished up and thought “Well, it’s not exactly another‘divorce’ painting…maybe we’ve moved on at least a bit….”

Go to Kate Rusby’s song:

“Cold and frosty morning

There’s not a lot to say

About the things caught in my mind

And as the day was dawning

My plane flew away

With all the things caught in my mind

And I want to be there

When you’re coming down

And I want to be there

When you hit the ground

Don’t go away

Say what you say

Say that you’ll stay

Forever and a day

In the time of my life

When I need more time

I need more time

Just to make things right

Oh, damn my situation

And the games I have to play

And all the things caught in my mind

And damn my education

I can’t find the words to say

With all the things caught in my mind

And I want to be there

When you’re coming down

And I want to be there

When you hit the ground

So don’t go away

And say what you say

Say that you’ll stay

Forever and a day

In the time of my life

When I need more time

I need more time

Just to make things right

I need more time

Just to make things right

When I need more time….

Just to make things right…”
