“Fraternity” (Good Enough for Grandad Is Good Enough For Me)
India ink & watercolor; 2000 or so
This rather chilling (given the title) illustration is from the days when I was still doing work for various, independent record-labels (such as “The Squirrel Nut Zippers” Mammoth Records. This would, of course, be during the days when there still WERE small, quirky, innovative labels….who hired illustrators who actually drew things on paper, and who then would print those pictures on album-covers and posters. Those, in turn, often were displayed in RECORD STORES (many of which could be found in locations referred to as “MALLS”). People who saw these posters and record covers would then buy the record or go to a concert (usually in a building or sometimes outdoors) to hear the band. It was fun, most of the time.
This used to happen. I was there.
Here’s the actual song, which turns out to be on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nbpp18PV8MI…
