“Perigeux” is the name of the main town in Perigord, where I’ve spent the past five summers. The French word for “Pigeon” is, innovatively enough, “Pigeon”. I spend every morning watching my many mourning doves (which are basically just marginally less-stupid pigeons) here in Durham. It probably doesn’t say much for my character that the main reason I love doves and pigeons is precisely because they are so suicidally stupid. It’s quite fascinating to witness on a daily basis
