“It’s not over ’till it’s over/ I heard someone say…..” ——Judy Collins, “Fires of Eden”.
After a very fine conversation with my friend, Rebekah (an essentially kind, good listener….who would disagreee with that description of her), last night, I got up this morning and finished this perhaps too-detailed, small painting.
The subject is, of course, the front room in our Durham house (I painted it, far more loosely and perhaps “better”, ten years ago. I wouldn’t be the first to say “We were fine until all the money came along and we moved to the big, rich house”.
That said, the Durham house is long-sold, the gardens covered-over, Herve dead, and I still regard it all quite fondly…although uncertainly. It was lovely, for many years going there. Still?……what was……..was.
Many thanks to Rebekah for the fine conversation last night….and the link to the song is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9wA2FKZGsA
