“Winter Horses”
Pencil, pastel, and watercolor
2023 (SOLD)
Well, this is the most Chinese-y/Japanese-y thing I’ve done in a long while. It’ll sell quickly. For better or worse, I know my clientele.
For some reason (perhaps my disinclination to anthropomorphize horses, in addition to my being utterly devoid of any fetishism regarding them), I never think to title these horsey things anything other than, say, “Brown Horse” or “Horse Eating Hay” or “Spring Horse & Foal”.
I gather from my horsewomen pals that horses actually LIKE being out in the snow. I suppose that, if I and the dogs weighed 1500 pounds apiece (which we don’t, just yet), we might, also, enjoy being out in it. As things stand, we like to sit in the window and look at it. Living as I have over the years (more precisely, without children or a 9-5 job I’m obliged to attend), I’ve never considered snow a nuisance.
It is pretty, though.
