"She Came From Planet Claire" (Portrait of Sarah Ovenall and George...)

pastel, watercolor, and pencil

Having discovered (via a Facebook friend) that my website doesn't "work" on an i-phone, I was (as has been the case over at least 11 years) utterly dismayed and confused.....until my Super-Powered-Webmistress, Sarah Ovenall suddenly flew in to save the day. If it weren't for Sarah, I wouldn't even have a website. In gratitude (and, I'll admit, also in a transparent ploy to avoid cleaning the back wing gutters), I sat down yesterday afternoon and finished the attached portrait (which I'd begun this past Fall, intending to give it to Sarah and her good-husband, George, for Christmas). The title, mais bien sur, is "She Came From Planet Clare". I happen to love Sarah (who's the most imaginative person I know, and I MEAN that); she has, over the years, saved my under-equipped and under-informed ass more times than I can recall. She also can knit a mean praying-mantis if you ask her nicely. So....."Portrait of Sarah and George; pencil, watercolor, and pencil; 12"x10".

"She came from Planet Claire
I knew she came from there
She drove a Plymouth Satellite
Faster than the speed of light

Planet Claire has pink air
All the trees are red
No one ever dies there
No one has a head.

Some say she's from Mars
Or one of the seven stars
That shine after 3:30 in the morning.
