The core of this old, rambling house is a two-story log-cabin…..built sometime before 1800 as a schoolhouse where the first Governor’s spinster daughter taught until she pulled up stakes and moved off to Missippi in the 1830’s.

This is a portrait (which I like very much and gave to my friend, Bob Niedbalski, for Christmas this past year) of two friends in the school-room, by the fire, and obviously wrapped-up in their conversation.

My large and clever Sewanee friend, Jeff Richardson, has suggested that I title the portrait “Now, THIS Little Piggy went to MARKET!!!!…..”
