Pencil, pastel, and watercolor

2025 (NFS)    I started to title this “Ophelia”, but I thought that was a bit melodramatic, even for me. The fact remains that South Carolina coast/marshlands are, indeed, beautiful, and I’ve painted them many times (mostly as color-exercises when I’ve discovered new pastels, etc). My friends down there have been very nice about saying that I can paint their view.
So, yes…I think the region is beautiful. I was raised in the mountains, however, and I can’t help but recall my spoiled, indolent (if quite intelligent) grandmother’s amusedly saying (if anyone mentioned her perhaps going anywhere south of Virginia or East Tennessee) “Oh, no….I’m too fat, and it’s too far and snakey”.
I’m sorta the same way. It’s beautiful…..but it’s a long drive and looks snakey.
