I once got roundly scolded after telling that joke at an NYC dinner party. To this day, I still can’t figure out what was offensive or supposedly racist about the joke. The facts are just objectively true, in my experience. I probably should admit having had limited experience with actual Chinese folks, so perhaps I’m assuming too much in that regard. Still….it’s a funny joke. Or at least it used to be.
