Well, another picture of another burnt-down house, which seems to remain one of my preoccupations.
I do recall one of my terriers knocking the ink across the picture while it was in the making (I worked on the floor in those days). For better or worse, I was raised to believe that one could make a virtue of inconsistency, so I just spilled MORE ink across the picture. All done and said, this is the graphic equivalent of Pee Wee Herman’s flying off his bike and getting up to dust himself off before announcing “I did that ON PURPOSE”.
And, yes….when this was first publicly exhibited, I had my first taste of standing in a gallery while someone rapturously told me “I just LOVE this New Direction you’re going in…it’s so….so…PAINTERLY!”
