I think it was only about two years ago that someone told me “But you’re SUPPOSED to say ‘Rabbit,Rabbit’ when you get out of bed on the first of each morning! It’s GOOD LUCK!!!!”
I never heard diddly about this until I was 63 years old. Is this a Yankee or specifically British thing? In any case, my ignorance might account for the run of rather markedly bad luck I’ve had over the past five years.
As for rabbits and me? I had a pair of black&white Dutch rabbits when I was five, but my father’s beagles eventually found a way through the enclosure AND the hutch and tore them to bloody pieces. Same happened, despite advanced fortifications, when I was ten or so. I had one in college, but someone let it out the window, and it plunged to its death. I had one in the early 90’s which happily spent its 30 or so days hopping around my studio apartment, eating carrots and gnawing the fringe off of my rugs before it disappeared down a vent (I was NOT the repairman who’d left the cover off), never to be found.
So, I figured out that rabbits and me are a combination for bad luck. For them, at least.
I don’t have any appropriate rabbit-songs to include in this posting, except for (maybe) this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYaMEWE0dCs…
