I like this picture from a few years ago….for all the obvious (I expect) reasons.
I’ll admit that the Bassett hound isn’t “southern” at all. You can find him, every single day, lying in the sun just outside the doorway of the stationer’s shop fifty yards from the center of Barcelona’s 15th century Placa del Rei. Over the past five years?….I see him, bring him a treat, and photograph him every spring when we’re there. I wouldn’t pretend to assuming he recognizes me as anything but a guy with a piece of sausage.
These days, he’s graying around the muzzle….but, then, aren’t we all?
