I’ve done a lot of staircases in my time, mostly as technical exercises.

This one differs in that it’s of/in a house that’s going uphill (being restored) rather than, as are my usual subjects, downhill.

I held off on using watercolor on this. It’s very easy to add “antique-y”, “painterly” (ugh) atmosphere to an already good drawing.
