And, yes, it’s a very old district in central Paris…once the Jewish quarter, more or less, and many other things since then. It’s much like New Orleans in that, once you surmount the stairs, there are any number of old, lovely apartments that have been there forever. You simply have to have entree to the “right” people (who are not, even today, necessarily wealthy)
