"When We Were Very Young" (for my mother)

Pencil & watercolor
2009

For my mother...Vondia Louise Branche MacFadden Terry (I know, that's one name for every 25 pounds of her).  I gather that I happen to be very lucky...I seem to be one of those very few people who think his/her mother did JUST FINE back when he/she needed a mother, and we're just plain old good friends these days. She (still married to my father, thank you) lives four hours away in Tennessee, and I think we talk on the telephone about once per day.

I'm always astonished by (and, frankly, fairly irritated by) folks-in-their-forties&fifties who spend their days passing judgement on whatever/something their parents did when they, themselves, were only 20-something.  I've never had any children and happen to think that my own parents did a fine job, given the material they were handed.

So, this is for my mother.  she doesn't bother to do anything involving computers, but perhaps my father will show this to her.

Oh....the picture is in the hands the very good Dog & Horse Fine Art Gallery in Charleston.  You've got to talk to Jaynie Spector (the gallery owner) if you want this thing.  go to:
